waterbaptism

Water baptism is an event that began in bible times, as a sign of repentance: turning away from sin and turning towards God (Mark 1:4-5). After Jesus came He commanded that the church should baptize new believers in Him (Matthew 28:19-20). It is a beautiful symbol of the cleansing and new life that we experience through faith in Him, and a declaration of that faith. Baptism signifies that we are identifying with Jesus in His death, burial and resurrection: allowing our old life to die and be buried with Him, and being raised to new life in Him (Romans 6:3-4). At GTA we practice water baptism by full immersion, patterned after Scripture. We believe that every follower of Jesus Christ needs to be water baptized as an important step in their spiritual journey (Acts 19:1-6).

If you would like to be water baptized please note that we will announce the upcoming date beginning approximately two - three weeks in advance. You can then pick up an application form from the back foyer at GTA. Fill it out and return it to the church office as soon as possible, indicating which service you prefer.

All water baptism candidates will receive detailed information which will provide you with more information about the significance of water baptism and some practical guidelines for the service. Candidates will meet together with Pastor Tim Schwindt prior to the service for further instruction and for a time of prayer.

Our next water baptism will be held on Easter Sunday, April 12.
Application forms and information are available to pick up at the reception area. Please feel free to contact one of the pastors should you have any questions.
